  • Relief items: Food and essentials were donated to Uhogua camp.
  • Focus: Priority on women, children, and vulnerable persons.
  • Response: Beneficiaries thanked the government for support.

The governor gave the assurance through his representative during the presentation of relief materials to residents of the Home for the Needy Foundation, an IDP camp located in Uhogua Community, Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Leading the state government’s delegation, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, Apostle Sule Faraday, said the intervention forms part of Governor Okpebholo’s longstanding humanitarian outreach, aimed at improving the living conditions of displaced and vulnerable persons across the state.

According to Faraday, the governor remains committed to ensuring that displaced persons have access to basic necessities and adequate support.

He stressed that the administration would continue to prioritize the welfare of vulnerable groups and ensure that no resident is left behind in the state’s development efforts.

The delegation donated food supplies, toiletries, and other essential materials to residents of the camp.

The visit also featured prayers for the children and other occupants of the facility.

Speaking during the event, the camp’s Supervisor, Evelyn Omigie, expressed appreciation to the Edo State government for its consistent support to the foundation.

She noted that the assistance had helped to alleviate some of the challenges faced by residents but appealed for additional support to meet the growing needs of the camp.

One of the beneficiaries, Sarah Gabriel, who spoke on behalf of other displaced persons, said the donated items would provide much-needed relief to residents.

She commended the state government for remembering the camp and extending support to people facing difficult circumstances.

The Home for the Needy Foundation currently provides shelter and care for displaced persons, including women and children.

Stakeholders at the event expressed optimism that the government’s intervention would encourage individuals, corporate organizations, and other philanthropists to partner in supporting displaced persons and vulnerable groups across Edo State.
