Justice Muhammad Umar ordered that Sowore remain in custody at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the determination of his motion seeking to overturn the earlier order revoking his bail and the bench warrant issued against him.
The development follows an earlier sitting where Sowore was absent from court. At that time, the prosecution urged the court to revoke his bail, alleging that his absence was part of a delay tactic.
Although Sowore had written to the court requesting an adjournment, he reportedly did not provide any reason for his absence, which influenced the prosecution’s application.
At Monday’s proceedings, Sowore appeared in court and was represented by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olumide Fusika.

Justice Umar, in a brief ruling, ordered that the activist and politician be remanded while the court considers the application challenging the bail revocation.
The judge also dismissed an earlier request by Sowore asking him to withdraw from the case over alleged bias.
The matter was adjourned until June 24 for the hearing of the pending application.
