Residents and traders in Benin City, Edo State, have expressed excitement over the ongoing construction of the Ramat Park Flyover, following Governor Monday Okpebholo’s announcement that the landmark project is expected to be commissioned in November 2026.

Governor Okpebholo made the disclosure during an inspection tour of the project site, where he assessed the pace and quality of work being carried out.
Speaking with journalists after the inspection, the governor noted that significant progress had been recorded on the Ramat Park Flyover, while the surrounding road infrastructure and drainage systems were also receiving major improvements.
“We have gone round to see how far the construction of the Ramat Park Flyover has progressed. Apart from the flyover, the road network within the area is equally commendable.
“This place is now more beautiful than it was before. We are also making serious progress in the stormwater drainage system around the facility.
“We are hoping that President Bola Tinubu will come to commission this project by November during the celebration of my two years in office,” the governor said.
Okpebholo added that ongoing developments around the park would further transform the area into a major attraction for residents and visitors.
According to him, the upgraded park and improved infrastructure are already enhancing the aesthetics of the environment and creating a more welcoming atmosphere for families and businesses.
The governor also commended the Federal Government’s fuel subsidy removal policy, noting that increased federal allocations had improved the capacity of state governments to execute critical infrastructure projects and meet their obligations.
Providing an update on the project, the Project Manager, Li Jianshou, disclosed that the Ramat Park Flyover is more than 95 per cent completed.
He explained that the remaining components of the project include the installation of street lights, expansion of junctions, road markings, landscaping, and painting of the bridge.
Jianshou assured residents that the project would be delivered in line with the November commissioning timeline announced by the governor.

The inspection attracted large crowds of residents and traders who cheered the governor and his entourage.
A resident, Mrs. Queen Ehanire, described the project as a major transformation for the Ikpoba Hill axis of Benin City.
“Benin is more beautiful compared to past years. Governor Okpebholo has done well with this project,” she said.
Another resident, Mr. James Osaigbovo, expressed optimism that the completed flyover would attract more visitors, stimulate business activities, and improve mobility within the city.
Similarly, a commercial driver, Mr. David Uwadia, said the redesigned park and modern flyover would significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve transportation around the busy Ramat Park corridor.
The Ramat Park Flyover is one of the flagship infrastructure projects of the Okpebholo administration and is expected to enhance traffic flow, urban renewal, and economic activities in Benin City upon completion.
