NSCDC head coach Samuel Ajayi expressed relief after his team bounced back from an opening defeat.

“This is our first victory in the ongoing league and I am relieved. After losing our opening match, it was important for us to earn points today,” he said.

He added that limited preparation affected early performance but insisted the team would improve as the competition progresses.

Anambra Queens coach John Iwerima praised his players for their resilience despite difficult circumstances.

“Our players only arrived around 3 a.m. and had just about an hour of sleep before the match, but they achieved what many thought was impossible,” he said.

Defence Spikers coach Kingsley Akila also highlighted his team’s growing confidence after their first win.

“We are new to the league and determined to prove ourselves. This victory will give the players confidence going into our next matches,” he stated.

As the 2026 CGC Premier Volleyball League progresses in Abuja, the competition continues to showcase rising standards, with closely fought five-set battles, straight-set dominance, and emotional comebacks reflecting the growing depth of Nigerian volleyball.

With more fixtures ahead, clubs are increasingly focused on securing crucial points that could determine their path to the championship stages.
