Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has announced minor changes to the leadership of some of its Standing Committees as part of efforts to strengthen legislative oversight, accountability and effective parliamentary administration.

The adjustments, announced by the speaker, followed the recent reconstitution of the minority caucus leadership in the House.
Under the new arrangement, Rep. Aliyu Madaki (APC/Kano) has been appointed chairman of the House Committee on Special Duties, replacing Rep. Fred Agbedi (PDP/Bayelsa), who was recently named the House minority leader.
Similarly, Rep. Ali Isa J.C. (ADC/Gombe) was appointed chairman of the House Committee on Shipping Services, taking over from Rep. Abdussamad Dasuki (ADC/Sokoto), who now serves as the House deputy minority leader.
The reshuffle also affected the House Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises, with Rep. Paschal Agbodike (APGA/ Anambra) redeployed from the committee on hydrological services/HYPADEC to head the SMEs committee.
Rep. Agbodike succeeds Rep. Mansur Manu Soro (APM/ Bauchi), who has assumed office as the House minority whip.

Consequently, Rep. Kelechi Nwogu (PDP/Rivers) was appointed chairman of the House Committee on Hydrological Services/HYPADEC.
The House said the changes were aimed at sustaining effective committee leadership and ensuring continuity in the discharge of the legislature’s constitutional responsibilities.
According to the House leadership, the adjustments reflect its commitment to strengthening institutional oversight mechanisms and enhancing parliamentary efficiency in service to the Nigerian people.
