The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested eight suspects over alleged involvement in criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of dangerous weapons, and the sale and consumption of banned substances in Yola, the state capital.
The arrests were made during a coordinated operation by police officers acting on credible intelligence as part of ongoing efforts to tackle crime and criminality across the state.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, said the operation targeted a suspected “Shilla” criminal network believed to be involved in activities capable of threatening public peace and security.
The suspects, identified as Bawuro Mohammad, Hamza Hassan, Aliyu Abubakar, Alfa Abubakar, Fahat Hamma, Dahiru Usman, Ibrahim Samaila, and Jefe Jostine, were arrested in various locations within Shagari, Yolde Pate, and Wuro Hausa communities of Yola South Local Government Area.

According to the police, dangerous weapons and suspected illicit substances were recovered during the operation. The items are believed to be connected to the suspects’ alleged criminal activities.
Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter and assured residents that anyone found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Adamawa State, warning criminal elements to abandon unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.
The police command described the operation as another breakthrough in its sustained campaign against crime and efforts to ensure a safer environment for residents of the state.
