The Southern Delta University (SDU), Ozoro, Delta State, has recorded another remarkable achievement as two of its 100-level engineering students distinguished themselves at the prestigious NASENI InnovateNaija Champions Tech competition, emerging among the top innovators in the country.

The students, Anthony Oghenero of the Department of Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering and Ahani Jude of the Department of Computer Engineering, showcased exceptional creativity and technical excellence through their innovative project titled: “Autonomous delivery drone system.”
Competing against participants from across the nation, the team secured second position in Delta State and emerged among the Top 8 overall best teams nationally, bringing recognition and pride to Southern Delta University, Ozoro.
According to the Director of Research, Solomon Uriri, the project was developed as an intelligent aerial transport solution, designed to address the growing challenges of movement and logistics in highly congested urban environments.

The autonomous delivery drone system aims at providing faster and more efficient delivery services, particularly for urgent medical supplies and essential consumer needs, ensuring critical items reach their destinations within the shortest possible time.
The project was developed under the coordination and supervision of the university’s research directorate, reflecting the Southern Delta University’s commitment to innovation, research excellence, and practical, technology-driven solutions.
In recognition of their outstanding performance and to encourage continued innovation and academic excellence, the university management awarded both students free university hostel accommodation for the remaining part of their academic stay in the university until graduation.
This achievement underscores the Southern Delta University’s growing reputation as a hub for technological advancement, innovation, and student-centered research development.
