The Taraba State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded a significant breakthrough in its campaign against illicit drug trafficking, seizing more than 1.1 tonnes of cannabis in Bali Local Government Area.

The operation, carried out on June 13, 2026, in Maihula Town, resulted in the recovery of 70 bags of cannabis sativa weighing a total of 1,121.5 kilograms—equivalent to approximately 1.12 metric tonnes.
NDLEA operatives also arrested a 45-year-old suspect, Ali Adamu, after the illicit substance was allegedly discovered in a warehouse linked to him.
Speaking on the development, the Taraba State Commander of the NDLEA, Javanson Kwalma, described the seizure as one of the most significant operational successes recorded by the command since its establishment.
According to Kwalma, the operation demonstrates the agency’s resolve to dismantle drug trafficking networks and protect communities across the state from the devastating effects of illicit drug activities.
“The seizure reflects our unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents of Taraba State,” he stated.
The commander disclosed that the suspect remains in NDLEA custody and is assisting investigators as efforts intensify to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the illegal drug operation.
