There was chaos in Kajola, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State as scores of youths trooped out to protest following the alleged killing of a village head and two other persons at a police checkpoint.
The youths in their hundreds gathered outside the community’s police station with the aim of setting it ablaze.
The Trumpet learnt that the ugly incident happened along Lagos/Benin Expressway on Saturday evening when the victims, David Olowofeyekun, Gbenga Abayomi, and Kola Akinduro, the Head of Korede Village, were riding on a motorcycle home from their farms and were allegedly hit by a Hilux van after being stopped at a police checkpoint along the Lagos/ Benin Expressway.

The victims were said to have knocked down the police attempting to stop an oncoming Hilux van after stopping them at the checkpoint.
The Hilux driver in an attempt to avoid the police crashed into the motorcycle and the victims died on the spot. A source disclosed that the police personnel in the neighbourhood were still allegedly extorting from and harassing residents at the checkpoint.
This is despite the order by the Commissioner of Police to stop illegal checkpoints and extortion in the state. However, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Funmilayo Odunlami who debunked the claim said the deceased persons went against the traffic regulations which resulted in an accident.
