The Cross River State Police Command has arrested one Asu Ebolom for the unlawful possession of a firearm in Ikom Local Government Area of the state.
The command which disclosed this in a statement today through its spokesman, Mr Sunday Akata said
the arrest was made on June 4, 2026, during a routine patrol and surveillance operation by officers of the Ikom Division, around Atimaka Trailer Park, Ikom.
According to the police statement, the police officers intercepted a suspicious individual who was subsequently identified as Asu Ebolom.
A thorough search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol concealed in his possession.

He was immediately arrested and taken into custody for further investigation,
Akata also revealed in the statement that preliminary investigations are ongoing to ascertain the source of the firearm and determine whether it is linked to any criminal activities within or outside the area.
The command reiterated its commitment to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, and the protection of lives and property across the state.
It also encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible information that will aid the command in combating crime and criminality.
