The Delta State Police Command has intensified efforts to strengthen intelligence-led policing and improve investigative capacity as its officers underwent a specialised training on forensic and fraud investigation.

The two-day programme, organised by the Nigeria Police Force in collaboration with Pearl Forensic Risk Advisory Services, brought together officers from Area Commands, Divisions, Tactical Formations and other departments within the Command.
The training was convened by HRH Erelu Dr Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu and focused on equipping participants with modern skills required to tackle financial crimes, cybercrime, terrorism financing and other emerging security threats.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the organisers and thanked the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for approving the programme and prioritising the professional development of officers.
Oyeniyi noted that the changing nature of criminal activities requires law enforcement personnel to continually update their knowledge in forensic science, financial investigations, intelligence gathering, cybercrime investigation and digital evidence management.
He urged participants to make the most of the opportunity and apply the skills acquired to improve the quality and efficiency of investigations.
The training covered key areas including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF), collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, public sector fraud investigation, crime scene management, cyber and digital forensics, financial intelligence and evidence gathering.

Facilitators at the programme included Suleiman A. S. Aruwa, Stacy Ann Nwodo and Dilichukwu Alfred Ononugbo.
Participants were exposed to practical exercises, case studies and interactive sessions designed to enhance their understanding of contemporary investigative techniques, evidence management and prosecution support.
Addressing participants, the convener, Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu, stressed the importance of continuous capacity building for law enforcement personnel in combating financial crimes, corruption, cybercrime and other sophisticated criminal activities.
The Command said the training forms part of ongoing efforts to equip officers with the skills needed to address contemporary security challenges and align policing operations with global best practices.
It reiterated its commitment to building a professional, technology-driven and service-oriented police force in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
