Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Elijah Ayodele, has warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against imposing Ahmed Galadima as its governorship candidate in Adamawa State, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Key Highlights:

  • Cleric Elijah Ayodele warned the All Progressives Congress against imposing Ahmed Galadima in Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 elections.
  • He said imposition of candidates could lead to voter rejection and cost the APC electoral victory in the state.
  • Ayodele stressed that voters in Adamawa prefer fairness, inclusiveness, and credible democratic selection processes.
  • He warned that ignoring party stakeholders could trigger internal rebellion and weaken party unity.
  • The cleric advised the APC to strengthen internal democracy and allow grassroots members to determine candidates.

Ayodele cautioned that any attempt to force Galadima on party members and the electorate could cost the APC victory in the state, insisting that many voters in Adamawa State are already opposed to candidates perceived to have emerged through imposition rather than a transparent democratic process.

The cleric stated that the political atmosphere in Adamawa State currently favours fairness, inclusiveness, and credibility in candidate selection, warning that the party risks internal rebellion and voter rejection if it ignores the feelings of party stakeholders and residents.

According to him, a large number of voters in the state are prepared to reject any candidate they believe was not democratically chosen through a credible primary process.

Ayodele’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the emergence of Galadima as the APC governorship candidate in Adamawa.

Galadima emerged winner of the party’s primary election ahead of the 2027 governorship poll.

However, the process has continued to generate mixed reactions within political circles, with allegations in some quarters that the exercise lacked broad participation and transparency.

The cleric urged the APC leadership to avoid actions capable of creating deeper divisions within the party, stressing that internal democracy remains critical to electoral success.

He further advised party leaders to listen to grassroots members and allow the people to decide who flies the party’s flag in the state.

Political observers believe the unfolding situation could shape the APC’s chances in Adamawa State, a state expected to witness intense political competition ahead of the next general elections.
