Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ have recorded major operational gains across the North-East theatre under ‘Operation DESERT SANITY’ and related missions, neutralising terrorists, rescuing abducted victims, recovering arms and explosives, and arresting suspected collaborators and criminal elements.

According to military sources, troops supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) carried out coordinated offensives in the Valle, Ashigashiya and Gakara general areas, where they engaged suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in a fierce gun battle.

During the operation, two insurgents were neutralised while several others fled towards the Ngoshe axis following intense troop firepower.

The military confirmed that no casualty was recorded among troops during the encounter.

In a related operation, along the Bravo Kilo 10 axis, troops intercepted suspected terrorists and neutralised one insurgent.

Key Highlights:

  • Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, supported by the CJTF, conducted coordinated offensives in Valle, Ashigashiya, and Gakara, killing two Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and forcing others to flee towards the Ngoshe axis.
  • Along the Bravo Kilo 10 axis, troops intercepted suspected terrorists and neutralized one insurgent, recovering a radio set and a mobile phone.
  • Soldiers rescued eight-year-old Abubakar Mublagha, abducted during the March 3, 2026 attack on Ngoshe, and 20-year-old Dahiru Ahamdu, who escaped captivity after military bombardments targeted terrorist camps in the Mandara Mountains.
  • Troops recovered a cache of explosives in the Magza area, including RPG bombs and mortar bombs, which were safely secured by explosive ordnance disposal teams.
  • Security forces arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator, Kuti Muhammad, and three armed robbery suspects in Borno State, recovering mobile phones, cash, charms, a locally made firearm, and other items.

Recovered items include a radio set and a mobile phone believed to belong to the fleeing terrorists.

Troops also recorded breakthroughs in rescue missions. Along the Ngoshe–Amuda corridor, soldiers rescued an eight-year-old boy, Abubakar Mublagha, who was abducted during the March 3, 2026, attack on Ngoshe community.

The child was medically evaluated and reunited with his family.

Similarly, troops operating around Uvaha Village, along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, rescued a 20-year-old abducted Fulani man, Dahiru Ahamdu.

The victim disclosed that he escaped from captivity after heavy artillery bombardments by troops struck terrorist camps within the Mandara Mountains, neutralising two insurgents and causing panic among the terrorists.

He said he was abducted on May 8, 2026, while grazing cattle in Bororo Village, Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Military authorities said the rescued victim had undergone medical checks and was reunited with his family through community leaders.

Meanwhile, troops deployed at Buni Gari recovered a cache of explosives abandoned by fleeing terrorists in the Magza general area following actionable intelligence.

Recovered items include four 40mm RPG bombs, one 81mm mortar bomb and four 60mm mortar bombs, all of which were safely secured by explosive ordnance disposal teams.

He is currently undergoing further investigation.

Troops also responded to an armed robbery incident in Garin Gwigwi Village in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, leading to the arrest of three suspects, identified as Aliyu Mamadu, Umar Mohammed and Adamu Aliyu.

Items recovered from the suspects include mobile phones, suspected illicit substances, charms, jewellery, cash, a dagger, a Quran booklet and a locally made firearm.
