The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Philip Aduda, has pledged to provide purposeful and people-oriented representation if elected into the Senate in 2027.

Aduda made the promise in a statement on Friday, while appreciating residents of the FCT and party supporters for their support during the APC senatorial primaries held on May 18, 2026.

Key Highlights:

  • Philip Aduda promised people-oriented representation if elected in 2027.
  • He thanked APC members and residents for supporting his emergence in the FCT senatorial primaries.
  • Aduda said the FCT needs a stronger voice in the Senate to drive development and welfare.
  • He praised Nyesom Wike for ongoing infrastructural reforms in the territory.
  • The APC candidate pledged to promote youth scholarships, employment opportunities, and effective representation.

He said the overwhelming support and goodwill shown to him during the exercise, reaffirmed the confidence of the people in his capacity to offer quality representation and sponsor laws that would positively impact residents.

According to him, the FCT has lacked a strong voice in the Senate in the last three years, a situation he said had affected the welfare and development aspirations of the people.

He described his emergence as the APC flagbearer as a reflection of the people’s desire for competent and focused leadership capable of addressing their yearnings.

Aduda said his objective is to position the FCT at the centre of national development while supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

He also commended the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as accelerated infrastructural development and reforms in the territory.

The APC candidate praised ongoing projects, including the expansion of satellite towns, improved electricity and water supply, reforms in the FCT civil service, and the removal of the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) to enhance service delivery.

Aduda thanked other contestants in the primary election for their maturity and sportsmanship, saying their conduct demonstrated commitment to the unity and progress of the party.

He also expressed appreciation to Amina Ibrahim for stepping down her aspiration in support of his candidacy.

The former senator called on APC members and stakeholders in the FCT to work together towards securing victory for the party and President Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

He assured residents that his covenant with the people remains the provision of effective representation through bills and policies aimed at improving living standards, expanding scholarship opportunities for youths and facilitating employment opportunities for young people in the territory.
