The Delta State Police Command has rescued a three-year-old girl abducted by a commercial motorcyclist, arrested a suspect in connection with the crime, and recovered part of the ransom paid, alongside other exhibits.
In a statement, the command said officers of the Anti-Vice Squad (CAVS) in Ughelli, arrested one Kelvin Ogaga, following a complaint lodged on May 18, 2026 by the father of the victim.

The suspect, who was reportedly engaged to convey the child on daily school runs, allegedly abducted her and demanded ₦500,000 as ransom.
After negotiations, the family paid the sum before the child was released.

Police operatives, acting on what they described as credible technical intelligence, later tracked and stormed the suspect’s hideout in Ughelli, where he was arrested.
The child was also rescued unharmed.
Recovered from the suspect were ₦127,000, believed to be part of the ransom, a motorcycle allegedly used in the operation, and other items said to have been acquired with proceeds of the crime.
In a separate incident, police officers recovered a Beretta pistol and an iPhone during a stop-and-search patrol, along the Power Line axis by Bonsaac.
The suspect, who was sighted with a black bag, fled on noticing the police officers but abandoned the bag during a chase.
Police said efforts were underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect and determine the origin of the firearm.
Similarly, the police in Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North Local Government, arrested a suspected cultist, identified as Michael Monday, during a routine patrol along the Omovutotu Street, Ozoro.
A search of his black handbag led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun and a cartridge.
Preliminary findings reportedly linked the suspect to a cult group known as the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the police officers involved in the various operations for their swift response and reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling crime across the state.
He also stressed the importance of stop-and-search operations as a preventive policing strategy that continues to yield results, and urged residents to report suspicious movements and individuals to security agencies promptly.
