A 55-year-old chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Shamsudeen Oladiti, popularly known as “Shamelon,” has been arraigned before the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, over the alleged involuntary manslaughter of a dispatch motorcycle rider, Ramon Imam.
Oladiti faces three charges of involuntary manslaughter, conspiracy, and attempted murder filed by the Lagos State government.
The prosecution, led by Jubril Kareem, informed Justice Olawale Alebiosu that the offences occurred between August 27 and September 17, 2025.
Kareem stated that on September 17, 2025, at about 3 pm, Oladiti allegedly caused Imam’s death by beating him with fist blows and multiple strikes to his head and face on Lewis Street, Lagos Island.
Additionally, the prosecution claimed that Oladiti attempted to murder Samuel Omale on August 27, 2025, causing severe injuries through physical assault at the same location.
The offences contravene Sections 224, 411, and 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
Oladiti pleaded not guilty to all charges. Following the plea, his lawyer, Olanrewaju Ajanaku, requested bail on April 27, 2026.

The prosecution acknowledged receipt of the application and raised no objection but requested verification of Oladiti’s medical status.
The court subsequently ordered the controller of the correctional centre at Kirikiri to confirm Oladiti’s health status at any Lagos State hospital.
Earlier, the bail request had been rejected due to procedural errors.
The case has been adjourned to June 15, 2026, for trial.
