A Delta South APC senatorial aspirant, Sir Malik Itiako Ikpokpo, has formally withdrawn from the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections, while appreciating supporters for the commitment
Ikpokpo, popularly known for his C.L.U.E Agenda political movement, announced his withdrawal in a detailed statement on Friday, saying entrenched political interests and internal power play had made the possibility of a transparent contest “increasingly elusive and impossible.”
Key Highlights:
- Malik Ikpokpo withdraws from Delta South APC senatorial race ahead of 2027 elections
- Confirms he completed APC nomination process and was cleared to contest
- Reaffirms loyalty to APC, Tinubu, and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori
- Thanks Delta South political leaders, supporters, and campaign structure
- Ikpokpo said his decision to contest was driven by interest to provide quality representation for the district.
According to him, his campaign team embarked on extensive consultations across the district, engaging party leaders, stakeholders, executives, and grassroots members with a vision centered on inclusive representation, effective legislation, unity, and empowerment.
He explained that the campaign message under the C.L.U.E Agenda gained significant support among party members and residents who believed his candidacy represented a fresh opportunity for improved representation in Delta South.
“As proof of my irrevocable commitment to this cause, I obtained the expression of interest and nomination forms of our party, duly completed and submitted them, underwent screening, and was duly cleared to contest in the APC primary election,” he stated.
The former aspirant, however, lamented that political realities within the party structure eventually undermined hopes for a transparent primary election.
“Unfortunately, this was never to be. The dynamics of party politics, entrenched political interests, and sundry power play combined to make the prospect of a free, fair, and credible primary election increasingly elusive and impossible,” he said.
Ikpokpo noted that his withdrawal followed wide consultations with party leaders, political associates, and members of his campaign team.
Despite stepping down from the race, he maintained his loyalty to the APC and expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.
He called on supporters to remain committed to the APC and continue supporting President Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori ahead of the next general elections.

Ikpokpo further thanked members of the Delta South Rebirth Movement (DSRM), campaign coordinators, media team members, and supporters who stood behind his political vision.
He concluded by urging Delta South residents to remain hopeful in the democratic process and continue working toward a more united and prosperous region.
