Operatives of the Department of State Services have reportedly taken into custody Bello Bodejo, President of Miyetti Allah, shortly after he declared his intention to contest for the Taraba Central Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
According to reports, Bodejo arrived in Jalingo, Taraba State, on Thursday via a private jet and was received by supporters drawn from the five local government areas of the senatorial district.
He was later said to have visited some security agencies in the state alongside political associates before being arrested by DSS operatives.
A close aide, identified as Umar, alleged that the arrest took place shortly after Bodejo addressed supporters at the APC state secretariat in Jalingo. He claimed security personnel directed his entourage to vacate the premises before taking him away.

The aide further alleged that operatives who had accompanied Bodejo from Abuja were involved in the arrest. However, there has been no official confirmation from security authorities regarding the circumstances or reasons for his detention.
Prior to the incident, Bodejo had declared that he had obtained the APC senatorial nomination form and insisted he would not step down for any other aspirant in the race. He also said he was not contacted by a consensus committee reportedly set up to engage aspirants across Taraba State’s senatorial zones.
As of the time of filing this report, the Department of State Services has not issued an official statement on the arrest or disclosed his whereabouts.
The development comes more than a year after Bodejo was previously arrested over allegations linked to the formation of a vigilante group, raising fresh questions over the latest incident and its possible political or security dimensions.
