The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South-West Zone D, has warned of imminent protests and picketing of South African companies operating in Nigeria over renewed xenophobic attacks.
The group’s Coordinator, Kayode Adeyemo, made the position known on Wednesday, expressing anger over what he described as a fresh wave of violence in South Africa that has reportedly claimed the lives of two Nigerians.
He said the killings were not isolated incidents but part of a disturbing pattern of hostility targeting Nigerians abroad.
“The recent killing of two Nigerians is not just an isolated tragedy but a painful reminder of a recurring pattern of violence against our people. This must end immediately,” Adeyemo said.
NANS disclosed that it is already mobilising students for peaceful protests, including picketing South African-owned businesses across Nigeria.

The association argued that it is unacceptable for such firms to operate profitably in Nigeria, while Nigerians face alleged violence overseas.
“It is morally indefensible for businesses to thrive here while Nigerians are subjected to fear and attacks elsewhere. This contradiction will no longer be tolerated,” he added.
The student body also called on the South African government to act swiftly to protect foreign nationals and ensure justice for victims.
While threatening action, NANS said it remains open to dialogue with diplomatic channels, business leaders and other stakeholders to address the situation.
Adeyemo stressed that Nigerian students would not stay silent in the face of threats to the safety and dignity of their compatriots, describing the moment as one that demands accountability and decisive action.
