A former youth leader in Ikuru Town, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Joab Anthony, has called for justice following the murder of 32-year-old Patrick Ibiamu.
Ibiamu was said to have been murdered by a local vigilante member in the community.
In a chat with our correspondent on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, Anthony also urged the government and security agencies to do more to ensure sustainable peace in the area.
According to him, Ibiamu, a father of two, was brutally beaten to death by a local vigilante group during a confrontation with the vigilante members.
He stated that despite a peace agreement reached over the lingering crises in the community, residents had yet to enjoy absolute peace and safety.
“Our people ask for one thing: justice, for the young man whose life was violently cut short and for every innocent person arrested in the course of this crisis.
“Only Justice can heal wounds and restore faith in the land.

“The community demands that those responsible for this heinous crime be made to face the consequences of their actions,” he said.
The youth leader commended the local government council chairman for his intervention and the deployment of the joint security task force to the area.
“For now, our community is calm, and the JTF has extended its surveillance to Ikuru Town since this incident happened. They are always on the ground from 7 pm to 6 am daily,” he added.
