The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji and the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, on Monday joined family, friends and associates to celebrate the senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Sen.Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, on the occasion of his 59th birthday.
The celebration, which came as a surprise, was held at the Ekiti State Government House, where the two leaders honoured the lawmaker in recognition of his contributions to national development and legislative service.
Sen. Joel-Onowakpo, who disclosed the gesture via his official Facebook page, expressed deep appreciation to Gov. Oyebanji and Sen. Bamidele for organising the memorable event.
“Today, being my 59th birthday, the Leader of the Senate, Most Distinguished Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, CON, and the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, arranged a surprise birthday celebration for me at the Ekiti State Government House,” he wrote.

He described the gesture as a demonstration of genuine love and goodwill, noting that he felt highly honoured by the recognition.
“Egbon mé, thank you so much for your benevolence and love. You have honoured me in no small measure. Thank you for making this day memorable, my leader. May the good Lord bless and preserve you always,” he added.
The Delta South lawmaker also extended gratitude to the people of his senatorial district, colleagues in the National Assembly, as well as family members, friends and supporters for their goodwill messages and prayers.
“Let me use this opportunity to appreciate the good people of Delta South Senatorial District, my colleagues, family members, friends, associates and supporters for your love and prayers since morning. I am overwhelmed and excited. God bless you all,” he stated.
The celebration underscores the strong camaraderie among political leaders across party and regional lines, as Senator Joel-Onowakpo continues to receive accolades for his service and leadership.
