Having lost three games in a row and the race for a top-four finish this season entered the final and most interesting night, the injury-ravaged Arsenal side looked unlikely to do anything spectacular against Chelsea on Wednesday night.
The gloom of the defeat to Crystal Palace 3:0, Brighton 2-1 at home and Southampton 1-0 away, was not long as Arsenal bounced back to contention for a top-four finish with a dramatic and emphatic victory over the Blues at their fort, the Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal’s closest rivals after Tottenham in the race for top-four is Manchester United which over the weekend, lost to a rampaging and title-hungry Liverpool side 4-0 at Anfield. They were completely outplayed in the match after struggling to beat Norwich City 3-2 at Old Trafford.
Looking at Arsenal’s last home game, the Gunners failed to put up a solid performance against Brighton where they created 11 shots with only 2 on target. They scored 1 as they let three important points slip away in a 2-1 loss.

On the other hand, Manchester United was completely outplayed by the relentless Liverpool’s attack where they conceded four times, making it 9-0 this season home and away.
With home advantage and a few recoveries from injury, Arsenal has their noses ahead leading into this encounter.
Furthermore, with Mohammed Elneny back to the starting lineup alongside Emile Smith Rowe against Chelsea, it is expected that Mike Arteta will not make any serious changes to the squad.
For Manchester United, only Mason Greenwood out of the lot that includes Edinson Cavani, Scott McTominay, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane and talismanic Fred that missed the Liverpool game is likely to be available for selection against the Gunners.
