A coordinated intelligence-driven operation, has led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man, Ukong Abraham, for unlawful possession of a weapon in the Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State by the police.
A 22-year-old woman, identified as Delight Benjamin, had lodged a formal complaint, alleging that Abraham had assaulted her and caused her significant bodily harm.
According to an official statement released on April 21, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, the chain of events began on April 15, 2026.
Following the development, detectives from the Ikom Police Division were immediately mobilized to invite the suspect for questioning.
“However, the situation escalated when Abraham upon sighting the police team, fled in an attempt to evade arrest,” ASP Eitokpah stated.
The police added that through a coordinated and intelligence-driven operation, the suspect was subsequently tracked and apprehended by police officers.

Following his capture, a search conducted during the interrogation process yielded the illegal weapon, the police spokesperson confirmed.
He stated further that the suspect remains in custody, as the police work to uncover the full scope of his criminal activities and any potential links to other local syndicates.
The command emphasized its dedication to purging the state of illegal weaponry, reiterating its unwavering commitment to combating the proliferation of illegal arms and ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
