The father of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has rejected a proposal by the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikorodu, to select a foreign laboratory for a DNA test to determine the paternity of Mohbad’s son, Liam.
At the recent hearing, the court suggested that all parties, including Joseph Aloba, Wunmi, and the Lagos State government, submit preferred international DNA testing centers for selection.
However, Aloba’s legal team opposed the arrangement, arguing that some of the proposed laboratories do not carry out tissue-based DNA testing, which they insist is necessary for accurate results.

The court had earlier approved that each party should present a suitable overseas DNA facility, but the disagreement over the testing method has stalled progress in the case.
Aloba’s lawyer further insisted that a tissue-based DNA test, involving samples from the late singer, is the most reliable method to establish biological paternity.
The case has now been adjourned to May 5, when the court will determine whether Wunmi will consent to the proposed testing procedure.
