A Federal High Court in Kaduna has granted bail to former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, with proceedings held behind closed doors as journalists were denied access.
Confirmation of the bail came from his son, Bello El-Rufai, who was present in court.
He said the family was already working to meet the conditions attached to the release.
“We are happy that Malam has been granted bail. The conditions will be met because we believe in the rule of law,” he stated.
Legal representatives declined immediate comment, noting that the lead counsel would address the media at a later time.

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hayatudeen Lawal Makarfi, also confirmed the development, acknowledging that specific conditions were tied to the bail but expressing confidence they would soon be fulfilled.
The case follows the arraignment of El-Rufai by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged fraud offences.
A previous hearing had been adjourned, with the bail decision initially scheduled for April 21, 2026.
Further details of the bail terms and court proceedings remain limited due to restricted access to the courtroom.
