The federal government has begun the second phase of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) scheme, a key initiative designed to equip Nigerian youths with practical, job-ready skills.

Announcing the rollout, the Federal Ministry of Education said interested applicants can begin submitting their entries from April 13.

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, urged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity to gain industry-relevant training.

According to the ministry, the programme offers hands-on training lasting between six months and one year at accredited centres across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Participants will receive training in a wide range of fields, including ICT, construction, agriculture, fashion, automotive technology, creative media, hospitality, catering, cosmetology, and leather works.

To support trainees, the government will provide a monthly stipend of ₦22,500 throughout the duration of the programme.

Graduates will also be awarded nationally recognised certificates upon completion.

The initiative is part of the broader agenda of the Tinubu administration to expand youth empowerment opportunities and strengthen Nigeria’s workforce through skills-based education.

Applicants are required to submit their National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) as part of the registration process.

The ministry added that attendance will be tracked through biometric systems, with stipend payments tied strictly to active participation.

Officials say the programme is expected to drive employment, encourage entrepreneurship, and contribute to economic growth nationwide.
