A fatal road accident at Effurun Roundabout in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, has claimed the life of a tricycle rider and left another critically injured, causing severe traffic disruption across the area.
Key Highlights:
Eyewitnesses reported that a petrol tanker suffered brake failure and toppled onto a commercial tricycle, instantly killing the rider.
Another victim sustained serious injuries, including a traumatic leg amputation, and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed the incident, noting both the fatality and injury. The accident triggered significant gridlock, with motorists stranded
for hours while emergency responders cleared the wreckage and reopened roads.

The tragedy occurred amid ongoing efforts to redesign Effurun Roundabout, managed by Julius Berger, part of a broader initiative to ease congestion in the Warri-Effurun metropolis. The project complements flyovers at Petroleum Training Institute Roundabout and DSC Roundabout, which are nearing completion.
Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution in the area, stressing the importance of road safety as infrastructure projects continue.
