The Adamawa State Commissioner for Works, Mohammed Suleiman, has issued a strong warning to motorists to avoid reckless driving and strictly obey traffic regulations, particularly on flyovers in Yola.

Speaking with journalists at his office on Wednesday, Suleiman expressed concern over the growing disregard for traffic rules, as well as the vandalism of newly installed road infrastructure across the state. He highlighted damage to barriers, road signs, and protective wire mesh as a troubling trend.

According to the commissioner, although the flyovers are designed to carry heavy traffic, vehicles overloaded beyond capacity often develop faults while climbing the structures. He noted that such breakdowns can result in dangerous rollbacks, posing serious risks to other road users.

Suleiman further disclosed that heavy-duty trucks sometimes stall at the highest points of the flyovers, creating hazards and raising concerns about the long-term structural integrity of the bridges.

He called on residents of Adamawa State to take shared responsibility for safeguarding public infrastructure. The commissioner urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report acts of vandalism.

He also warned that individuals found damaging or misusing public property would face prosecution in accordance with the law.
