Former captain Harry Maguire has signed a new one-year contract with Manchester United, with an option to extend for a further year.
The 33-year-old defender’s previous deal was set to expire at the end of the current season, but the club has opted to retain his experience and leadership within the squad.
Maguire, who joined United from Leicester City in 2019 for a then world-record £80 million fee for a defender, has made 266 appearances for the club.
During his time at Old Trafford, he has won the League Cup (2022–23) and the FA Cup (2023–24).
Speaking after signing the extension, Maguire described representing Manchester United as “the ultimate honour,” expressing pride in continuing his journey with the club and playing in front of its supporters.
His career at United has seen ups and downs, including being stripped of the captaincy under former manager Erik ten Hag and facing a potential transfer to West Ham in 2023 that ultimately collapsed.
