The United Arab Emirates has signalled support for a potential United States-led coalition aimed at safeguarding the Strait of Hormuz, as geopolitical tensions with Iran continue to escalate.
Speaking to reporters, presidential diplomatic adviser Anwar Gargash said the UAE favours a coordinated international effort to ensure safe and uninterrupted navigation through the strategic waterway, a key route for global oil shipments and maritime trade.
Gargash stressed that no single country should have the capacity to control or threaten the strait, warning that any disruption could trigger far-reaching economic consequences across global markets.
He noted that while the UAE may not take a frontline maritime role, it remains committed to supporting a broader coalition effort led by the United States to secure the vital shipping corridor.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical chokepoints for energy supplies, handling a significant share of daily oil exports. Growing tensions in the region have raised concerns over the safety of commercial vessels and the risk of wider instability.
Analysts say the UAE’s position reflects increasing urgency among Gulf states and global powers to prevent further disruption to energy flows and maintain stability in international trade routes.
The latest development comes amid heightened geopolitical strain in the Middle East, with diplomatic and security measures now being weighed to avoid escalation and protect global economic interests.
