Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, has commended the quality and completion of the Ozoro Modern Market in Isoko North Local Government Area, describing it as a major boost to grassroots commerce and economic development.

Aniagwu gave the commendation during an inspection of the facility on Tuesday, where he expressed satisfaction with the standard of work delivered by the contractor. He said the project reflects the state government’s commitment to expanding economic opportunities and improving livelihoods at the local level.

He also praised the Ministry of Trade and Investment for its effective supervision, noting that the market project aligns with the administration’s focus on delivering people-driven infrastructure.

The commissioner acknowledged the role of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, in ensuring the successful execution of the project, stating that the market would serve not only Ozoro residents but the wider Isoko Nation.

According to Aniagwu, the modern market features over 190 open stalls, lock-up shops, storage facilities, administrative offices, and a multipurpose hall. He added that the complex is equipped with parking space, steady water supply, sanitation systems, and fire safety installations.

“This market meets the standards of a modern trading environment, offering safety, convenience, and improved business conditions for traders and customers,” he said.

He disclosed that the facility is ready for commissioning and will soon be inaugurated by the governor.

On shop allocation, Aniagwu assured that the state government would implement a transparent and fair process to ensure that genuine traders benefit from the facility. He stressed that measures would be put in place to prevent exploitation by individuals seeking to dominate the market for profit.

“This is not a project for a select few. The governor is committed to ensuring that real traders are the primary beneficiaries,” he added.

He explained that the Ministry of Trade and Investment, in collaboration with local authorities and market leaders, would oversee the allocation process to maintain accountability and fairness.

In a related development, the commissioner inspected ongoing and completed road projects in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, where he commended contractors for maintaining high construction standards.

Aniagwu highlighted improvements such as elevated road levels, durable asphalt layers, and efficient drainage systems as evidence of quality delivery.

He further revealed that several road projects across Isoko land are at different stages of completion, including internal roads around the College of Health Technology, Ovrode.

He added that plans for the Isoko Ring Road project have been reviewed and are progressing, noting that the initiative is expected to enhance connectivity across the region.

Other projects, according to him, include roads in Emevor, Olomoro, and Ozoro, as well as the newly awarded Ogorugba Street project, which is set for accelerated completion.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, Aniagwu said Governor Oborevwori remains focused on delivering projects that directly impact the lives of residents.

He also commended contractors for their dedication to quality work and encouraged greater involvement of indigenous firms in executing government projects across Delta State.
