The Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has adjourned the bail application hearing of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to Wednesday, April 1, 2026, extending proceedings in his ongoing corruption trial.
Defence counsel, Ukpong Abang (SAN), confirmed the development shortly after Tuesday’s court session, noting that the legal team required additional time to file necessary responses.
“I cannot speak in detail at the moment; we are still in the middle of proceedings. The matter has been adjourned till tomorrow,” he said briefly.
Following the adjournment, El-Rufai was escorted from the court premises by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), under tight security.
The former governor is facing a 10-count charge before Justice Rilwan Aikawa, bordering on alleged conversion of public assets and money laundering.
His continued detention and subsequent court appearances have drawn significant national attention due to the high-profile nature of the case.
Earlier in the day, El-Rufai had also appeared before a Kaduna State High Court in Kawo on separate charges filed by the ICPC.

In that case, he was arraigned alongside Amadu Sule on allegations including abuse of office, fraud, and conferring undue advantage charges distinct from those at the Federal High Court.
Despite spending over a month in custody, El-Rufai was temporarily released on compassionate grounds last week following the death of his mother, Hajiya Ummar El-Rufai, in Cairo.
With the latest adjournment, attention now shifts to Wednesday’s proceedings, where the court is expected to hear arguments on his bail application as the dual trials continue to unfold.
