Authorities at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) have announced a renewed enforcement drive against vehicles with tinted glasses and concealed number plates within the campus, citing growing security concerns.

The directive, issued by the institution’s security division, follows deliberations at the top management committee’s 137th meeting, where officials expressed dissatisfaction over continued non-compliance with an existing ban on such vehicles.

In an internal memorandum, the Chief Security Officer, Major Abiya Mohammed (rtd.), warned that vehicle owners have been granted a one-week grace period to remove tinted glass and ensure number plates are clearly visible.

According to the notice, failure to comply after the deadline will result in direct action by the university’s tinted glasses enforcement team, which has been authorized to remove tinted materials from offending vehicles found within campus premises.

The university emphasized that the measure is aimed at strengthening safety and maintaining order across the institution.

Students, staff, and visitors have been urged to cooperate fully with the directive to support ongoing efforts to enhance campus security.
