Rivers United have surged back to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table following a thrilling 4-2 comeback victory over Kun Khalifat, as Matchday 32 delivered a dramatic twist in the race for the title.

Playing in Port Harcourt, Rivers United showed remarkable resilience, overturning an early deficit with a spirited performance inspired by a brace from Iyowuna Douglas.

The victory lifts them to 55 points, edging past Enugu Rangers to reclaim top spot.

Meanwhile, Shooting Stars SC dealt a significant blow to Rangers’ title ambitions with an emphatic 3-1 win in Ibadan.

The result not only dented Rangers’ push for the crown but also boosted Shooting Stars’ hopes of securing a continental ticket.

The latest round of fixtures has dramatically reshaped the league standings, underlining the unpredictable nature of the title race as the season approaches its climax.

Elsewhere, Ikorodu City edged Warri Wolves 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller, while Enyimba FC secured a late win in the Abia derby.

Bayelsa United also delivered a statement performance with a dominant 4-1 victory over Kano Pillars.

With only a handful of matches remaining, the NPFL title race is now wide open.

Rivers United’s return to the summit highlights how quickly fortunes can shift, while Rangers’ setback exposes the mounting pressure at the top.

As the season enters its final stretch, every match and every point could prove decisive in determining not just the champions, but also continental qualification spots and relegation survival.
