President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.
The late matriarch reportedly passed away on Friday in Cairo after a brief illness.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president described the deceased as a woman of remarkable character who raised a family that has contributed significantly to national development.
Tinubu expressed empathy with El-Rufai, noting that he understands the pain of losing a mother, having experienced a similar loss.
“Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved mother,” the President said, adding that the memories of her life, values, and guidance should serve as a source of comfort to the family.

He further prayed for strength for the bereaved family and expressed hope that the deceased’s life fulfilled divine purpose.
Tinubu also prayed that Almighty Allah grants her Aljannah Firdaus.
El-Rufai served as Governor of Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He previously held office as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory between 2003 and 2007 during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
