Organisers of the Diamond League said the season-opening meeting in Doha remains scheduled to go ahead as planned, despite ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The event, which is expected to kick off the 2026 Diamond League season on May 8, is the first of 15 meetings leading up to the final in Brussels.
However, officials say they are closely monitoring the security situation and considering contingency plans.
In a statement, organisers confirmed they are working in coordination with the Qatar Athletics Federation, local authorities, and World Athletics to assess developments.
“The safety of athletes and spectators remains our top priority,” the statement noted, adding that alternative arrangements are being explored if necessary. A final decision on the event is expected no later than one month before the scheduled date.
The uncertainty follows heightened tensions in the region after military actions involving the United States and Israel against Iran earlier this year.
