The Nigeria Police Force in Rivers State has announced plans to honour fallen officers during the 2026 Police National Day celebration, with financial support for their families as a key highlight.
Spokesperson of the command, Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the initiative will include the presentation of cheques to families of deceased personnel.
She said this year’s event, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” is designed to strengthen collaboration between the police and residents while giving back to society.
According to her, a series of activities have been scheduled to promote public safety, deepen community engagement, and recognise the sacrifices of officers.
The programme will commence on Monday, March 30, 2026, with sanitation and environmental cleaning exercises across the state, alongside a medical outreach.
A walk for peace and public safety is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, beginning at the Police Headquarters on Moscow Road and ending at Isaac Boro Park.

On April 1, the command will host community engagement and sensitisation programmes focusing on the dangers of electoral violence and the importance of safe driving practices.
The presentation of cheques to families of deceased officers will take place on April 2, forming a central part of the commemoration.
The statement added that the grand finale of the nationwide celebration will be held on April 7 in Abuja, featuring a ceremonial parade and tactical display.
The command called on residents, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to participate actively in the activities, stressing that collective engagement is vital to building trust, enhancing cooperation, and sustaining peace in Rivers State.
