The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday secured the conviction of Osamudiamen Ikilo for a $19,400 bitcoin-related fraud in Edo State.
Ikilo was prosecuted by the Benin Zonal Directorate of the anti-graft agency and arraigned before Justice W.I. Aziegbemhin of the Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City.
He faced a one-count charge bordering on stealing and initially pleaded not guilty, prompting a full trial.

Following the proceedings, the court found him guilty and convicted him for the offence involving the fraudulent sum of $19,400 in Bitcoin.
The EFCC said the conviction underscores its ongoing efforts to clamp down on cybercrime and financial fraud across the country.
