A woman who recently returned from the United Kingdom to attend a wedding in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has lost her life in a road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The incident occurred on Monday evening near the Christopher University axis of the highway, according to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE).
In a statement issued on Tuesday, TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi said the crash involved a white Toyota Camry carrying three occupants.
He explained that the vehicle collided with a moving truck, an impact that proved fatal for one of the female passengers, while the two other occupants, a man and another woman, sustained injuries.
Preliminary findings indicated that excessive speed may have contributed to the accident.

Akinbiyi further disclosed that the two female passengers had just arrived from the United Kingdom and were en route from Lagos to Abeokuta for a wedding ceremony at the time of the crash.
The injured victims were taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment, while the deceased was deposited at a morgue.
The agency extended its condolences to the families affected by the tragedy and reiterated its warning to motorists to avoid speeding and adhere to road safety regulations.
The accident adds to growing concerns about road safety along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, a corridor that has recorded several serious crashes in recent months.
