A bomb explosion involving a commercial bus in Kwara State has left several passengers feared dead, raising new security concerns in the area.
The incident reportedly took place Monday morning near Woro Village in the Kaiama Local Government Area.
According to sources, the bus, which was headed to Niger State, struck an improvised explosive device (IED) believed to have been placed along the road.
Eyewitnesses reported that the explosion occurred upon impact, instantly killing the driver and causing severe injuries to several passengers.
While the exact number of casualties is still unknown, it is feared that multiple victims have died.

Local sources have confirmed that the injured individuals were transported to a medical facility in New Bussa, Niger State, where they are currently receiving care.
Security forces have since secured the area and launched an investigation into the incident.
During a subsequent search, officials reportedly found another explosive device, which was successfully neutralized, preventing additional injuries.
Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the attack, but initial findings indicate the possible involvement of armed groups operating in the Kwara–Niger region, which has seen a rise in insecurity in recent months.
Residents are increasingly alarmed by the surge in violent incidents and are urging the government and security agencies to enhance measures to protect lives and property.
