Kano state Governor, Abba Yusuf, has urged residents to uphold tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence as they mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr.
The governor, in a Sallah message issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, called on residents to celebrate peacefully and shun acts capable of threatening the peace and stability of the state.
He described the festival as a period of gratitude, reflection and renewed commitment to the virtues of faith, unity and compassion exhibited during Ramadan.
Yusuf stressed the need for residents to sustain the spirit of tolerance and respect for one another, irrespective of differences, noting that peaceful coexistence is essential for the state’s progress.

He also urged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against engaging in unlawful acts during the celebrations.
The governor further encouraged residents to show love to the less privileged in line with Islamic teachings.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, assuring that adequate security arrangements had been put in place for a hitch-free celebration.
Yusuf, however, wished residents a peaceful and blessed Eid-el-Fitr celebration
