Operations on the Kaduna–Abuja rail corridor were disrupted on Monday morning after a passenger train travelling from Kaduna to Abuja reportedly collided with another train along the route.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the day, forced railway authorities to temporarily halt train services on the line.

Passengers aboard the Abuja-bound train said the train collided with another train on the corridor, causing it to come to an abrupt stop and leaving many travellers stranded while officials assessed the situation.

Some passengers described the development as frightening, noting that the train suddenly jerked to a halt following the collision.

As of the time of filing this report, there were no immediate reports of casualties.

Railway officials had yet to issue a detailed statement on the cause of the incident or the extent of damage.

The Kaduna–Abuja rail line remains one of the busiest passenger routes in the country, linking the Federal Capital Territory with Kaduna State and transporting thousands of commuters daily.

Authorities are expected to provide further updates as investigations into the incident continue.
