The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has extended the deadline for its student loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session, giving tertiary institutions and eligible students more time to complete the process.
The decision followed requests from several higher institutions seeking additional time for their students to finalize applications on the NELFUND portal.
In a statement issued by the Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, said the extension reflects the agency’s commitment to ensuring wider access to the student loan programme.
According to him, the move is aimed at allowing more qualified students across participating institutions to benefit from the scheme.
“NELFUND remains committed to ensuring that eligible students across participating institutions have the opportunity to access the student loan programme,” Sawyerr said.

The agency urged all eligible students in affected institutions to take advantage of the extended window to complete their applications through the official portal.
