Social media influencer King Michy has publicly apologised following backlash over a live video in which she admitted to consuming a substance while streaming online.
The controversy also followed a dispute with activist VeryDarkMan, whom she had earlier accused of failing to properly utilise funds donated to his non-governmental organisation.
In a video statement addressing the issue, Michy admitted that her behaviour during the livestream was inappropriate and said she had spent several days reflecting on her actions.
She acknowledged that as a public figure and role model to young followers, her conduct had disappointed many people.
Michy also issued a public apology to Seyi Tinubu, explaining that although she had already apologised privately, she felt it was necessary to do so publicly because the incident occurred in the public space.
In addition, she apologised to Ooni of Ife for mentioning his name during the dispute and expressed regret for drawing him into the controversy.
She further extended an apology to VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, saying she now better understands his advocacy and his efforts toward promoting accountability and positive change in Nigeria.

In her statement, Michy said she is ready to take full responsibility for her actions and intends to make better decisions going forward.
“I’m ready to take responsibility for my actions. I’ve spent the last few days reflecting on my behaviour and I realise I was wrong. I want to be accountable for the substance I consumed during the live video. That was a mistake, especially since there are young girls who look up to me, and I know I’ve disappointed many people,” she said.
She added that she regrets how she approached the activist and now recognises that his work is aimed at advocating for a better Nigeria.
“You’re advocating for a better Nigeria, and I regret how I approached you. I’ve taken a step back to understand you better and see that you’re working towards a good cause. You need more supporters, not adversaries. I’m sorry, my brother,” she added.
The apology comes after the dispute sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many users calling for accountability and restraint among public figures.
