The founder of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has said his prayers played a key role in what he described as divine intervention that aided the political fortunes of Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during a church service, Ibiyeomie recounted how Wike allegedly contacted him while he was in Israel over fears that a case before the Supreme Court of Nigeria would go against him after earlier losses at the High Court and the Court of Appeal of Nigeria.
According to the cleric, Wike called him in distress over the anticipated ruling. Ibiyeomie said he reassured the then Rivers State governor that God would intervene despite the legal setbacks.
The pastor stated that the issue arose shortly before a major church programme known as “Five Nights of Glory.” He said the event took place days before the scheduled Supreme Court judgment and that the final ruling later turned in Wike’s favour.
Ibiyeomie also spoke about Wike’s re-election contest, claiming that there were attempts by political opponents to manipulate the outcome in favour of Biokpomabo Awara.
The cleric said he prayed and made what he described as a covenant with God on Wike’s behalf during the period. He added that he donated millions of naira as part of the spiritual commitment, although he said Wike was not aware of the gesture at the time.

He further alleged that when plans were made to alter the election results at the Independent National Electoral Commission, an unexpected development disrupted the effort.
Recounting the episode, Ibiyeomie said Wike had become anxious after defeats in the lower courts and the prospect of losing the Supreme Court case. He said he assured the politician that divine intervention would change the situation.
The pastor also claimed that on the day the election results were allegedly to be altered in favour of Awara, an unforeseen event occurred at the electoral commission’s office that prevented the change, which he described as an act of divine intervention.
Wike, who served as governor of Rivers State from 2015 to 2023, is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
