Karamo Yesiro, the newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has died just hours before his scheduled inauguration into office.
Yesiro was elected on Tuesday during the Lagos APC state congress held at Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, where party executives led by state chairman Cornelius Ojelabi emerged through a consensus arrangement.
His death occurred barely hours before he and other members of the newly elected State Executive Committee were to be formally inaugurated at the Lagos APC Secretariat on Thursday.
The Lagos APC confirmed the development in a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, describing the incident as shocking and deeply painful for the party.
According to the statement, the party received the news of Yesiro’s sudden death with “profound shock and deep sorrow,” noting that the loss came at a time when his commitment and energy were needed within the party’s leadership structure.

“Yesiro’s passing is a painful and tragic loss to our great party at a time when his energy, commitment and passion for progressive politics were most needed,” the statement said.
The party noted that his emergence as Assistant Publicity Secretary was the result of years of dedication and loyalty to the APC in Lagos State.
“Having just been entrusted with the responsibility of serving in the State Executive Council, he embodied dedication, loyalty and an unwavering belief in the ideals of our party,” the statement added.
Party officials described Yesiro as a vibrant member whose enthusiasm, humility and readiness to serve left a strong impression on colleagues and party members.
The Lagos APC said it stands united in mourning the late party chieftain, adding that his contributions to the growth and stability of the party in the state would not be forgotten.
Details surrounding the cause of his death were not immediately disclosed.
