The FIVB has expressed shock and deep concern following reports that several young volleyball players in Iran have been killed amid the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East and surrounding regions.

The federation extended its deepest sympathies to the families affected and all those impacted by the unfolding crisis.

In addition to the tragic loss of life, the FIVB highlighted that tens of thousands of volleyball athletes, coaches, staff, and volunteers in the region are being displaced and now face an uncertain future.

“The safety of all our athletes, coaches, staff, and volunteers, whether based in or visiting the region, is our top priority,” the federation said in a statement.

To address the humanitarian needs, the FIVB has established a dedicated task force to coordinate support in real time, collaborating with governments, NGOs, and other relevant organizations.

The ongoing situation has raised alarms across the international sports community, with leaders and organizations expressing support for the welfare of athletes caught in the conflict.

The FIVB continues to monitor developments closely while coordinating urgent humanitarian assistance.
