President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, succeeding Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who will now take on the role of Minister of State at the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.
This information was shared in a press release by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, on March 3, 2026.
In his new position, Oyedele will oversee important financial policies and initiatives in Nigeria.
Before this appointment, he chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he significantly contributed to reforming the nation’s tax system.
At 50 years old, Oyedele brings extensive experience to the role, having established himself as a distinguished economist, accountant, and public policy specialist.

He earned a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and Finance from the Yaba College of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
His qualifications are further enhanced by executive education programs completed at renowned institutions, including the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
With 22 years of experience at Price Waterhouse and Cooper, Oyedele advanced to the position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader after joining the firm in 2001.
He also holds a professorship at Babcock University in Ogun State and serves as a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
Tinubu’s selection of Oyedele is anticipated to strengthen the government’s financial management and fiscal policies as the administration addresses Nigeria’s economic challenges.
The nomination has been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation.
