The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has announced that the ARISE Elderly Citizens Centre, will be commissioned on Saturday, March 7, 2026, by First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.

Speaking during the March edition of the Government House monthly covenant service, Gov. Eno said the facility, located on the ARISE Medical Corridor along the Uyo–Ikot Ekpene Road, will be one of the highlights of the first lady’s maiden official visit to the state.

The visit will also feature the grand finale of the ongoing women sensitization and mobilization tour.

The governor explained that the centre, which includes a health facility and relaxation areas, is designed to cater to senior citizens aged 65 and above.

He commended women across the state for their active participation in the sensitization and economic empowerment programme, conveying warm greetings from the first lady.

Gov. Eno expressed appreciation to attendees at the covenant service, noting that the state is currently undertaking several major projects that require sustained prayers for divine guidance and speed.

As part of efforts to revive commercial activities, he disclosed that the state is constructing a brand-new jetty in Oron to restore the city’s economic prominence.

He added that strategic projects are ongoing across the three senatorial districts, with preliminary work already underway at the Ikot Ekpene International Market.

Full construction at the market site, he said, will commence soon.

The governor further revealed that the state will take delivery of two new Airbus aircraft within the year.

He noted that various projects are in progress at the Victor Attah International Airport in preparation for the commencement of international flights in April.

On financial management, Gov. Eno reiterated that the state is operating a Treasury Single Account (TSA) system and directed all ministries, departments, and agencies to comply strictly, warning that any default would not be tolerated.

He also announced that the state congress of the ruling All Progressives Congress has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, encouraging members to participate fully.

He called on citizens to continue praying for the success of the administration, as well as for Senate President Godswill Akpabio and President Bola Tinubu.

In his sermon titled: “El-Shaddai,” based on 2 Corinthians 9:8, the Pastor-in-Charge of Region 14 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Umar Enoch, encouraged believers to trust in God despite uncertainties.
