Delta State has been plunged into mourning following the shocking death of the former Deputy Governor, Chief Benjamin Elue, who passed away early Saturday morning at the age of 85.
The heartbreaking news was first broken by an online news outlet Niger Delta Today, sending waves of grief across the state and the nation.
Chief Elue, a towering figure in Delta politics, served as the deputy to former Governor James Ibori throughout the administration’s historic two-term tenure from 1999 to 2007.
Born in 1940, the late statesman was just months away from celebrating his 86th birthday this June.
